The distribution of UPLIFT Assistance has officially started in Cagayan de Oro City, providing support to an estimated 1,372 households affected by the rising cost of fuel and ongoing energy-related challenges.
The government assistance program began earlier as part of the response under Executive Order No. 110, signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., following the declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency. The initiative aims to help vulnerable Filipino families cope with the impact of increasing oil prices and global energy concerns.
Beneficiaries were identified through the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), with data gathered by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev). The program prioritizes poor and near-poor households, including families whose income falls within 25 percent above the official poverty threshold.
The UPLIFT (Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport) program is part of a government-wide effort to provide immediate assistance to affected communities, strengthen support for vulnerable sectors, and ensure the continued delivery of essential services.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to helping Filipino families navigate economic challenges brought by rising energy costs.
